IV sedation is the deepest form of conscious sedation available in a dental office setting. At Twin City Smiles Family Dentistry, Dr. Duong Ly partners with a licensed medical anesthesiologist to safely administer IV sedation for patients who need a deeper level of relaxation.
During your procedure, the anesthesiologist administers the sedative medication through a small IV line and continuously monitors your vitals, while Dr. Ly focuses entirely on your treatment. Both providers remain present and attentive throughout your visit to ensure your safety and comfort.
Most patients drift into a light sleep and have little to no memory of the procedure once they awaken. IV sedation is an excellent option for patients undergoing dental implant surgery, longer procedures, or those with severe dental anxiety.

Nitrous oxide, often called laughing gas, is a mild and safe form of dental sedation that helps you feel relaxed during your visit. It’s administered through a small nosepiece throughout your procedure, providing a calm, light, and comfortable experience.
Once the nosepiece is removed, the effects wear off quickly, allowing you to safely drive yourself home after your appointment.
This option is ideal for patients with mild dental anxiety or those who want a little extra comfort during shorter procedures or cleanings.
